Racing Skills Sessions

Run at the Blackburn Velodrome in 'summer', we work on racing skills and tactics

Please note, these sessions will only run if sufficient interest is indicated.  If you'd like them to, please express your interest to Carl via email.

aboc Cycle coaching invites Blackburn members and aboc riders to our summer road racing skills sessions. Held at the Blackburn Cycling Club velodrome, from 8am 'til 10am every Saturday from late October 'til April, weather permitting.

We learn, practice and perfect road racing skills such as leadouts, timing of sprints, race tactical moves and general road racing skills. This session is open to road-race legal roadbikes only, no fixed gear, time trial, MTB, flatbar or singlespeed bicycles are permitted on the track while this session is running.

Attendees pay $5 to the coach present.  All attendees MUST have a Cycling Australia licence (a Vets or MTBA licence is not a CA licence, but an AUDAX membership is). The cheapest way to get one is to get a 'Ride-It' licence from a CA affiliated cycling club.  Blackburn offer these licences and you can sign up online, please contact info@bbn.org.au for details of how to get this licence. This licence is a requirement of the clubs insurance so that when we use the velodrome we're covered by it in case of any accidents.  The attending coach (almost always Carl!) must see your licence at least once, or you will not be able to participate.

Attendance is strictly limited to 16 riders maximum, and preference is given to Blackburn members, and then riders being formally coached by aboc coaches,  in case of over attendance (this has never been a problem in the past!).
