Vic Club Teams TT Champs
Up to Racing!
Well done to those Abocers who competed yesterday at Miner's Rest. The forecast of showers and 11 degrees was fortunately one of those classic BOM forecasts that do not eventuate. Weather was mild with cloud and a slight breeze in the afternoon.
I raced with the Warragul girls, and we did a solid effort for 4th, in a time of ~56 min. The course was deceptive - small rises that sapped legs, pushed the HR a little too high, slowly draining energy, so that by the final climb (which was really innocuous on its own) we were all glad to see the top of it and the nice long downhill run to the finish. There was a very strong turnout for the women's section, with 5 teams in total, and Carnegie-Caulfield entering 2 teams! We had some top class competition, with 1st place getters coming home in a bit over 51 min.
Personally I was pleased with my effort (I dropped off at the 20km mark), as I didn't train for it - a 32 km TT doesn't fit too well with sprint track training. My average speed for the last 12 km was 31 kms, and the race was an excellent test of where I am at.
A big thank you to Ballarat-Sebastapol CC for a well run event. From a competitors view, it ran smoothly and to schedule. Highlights of the day were seeing a koala crossing Reynolds Rd, Donvale at 9.30 am, and coffee and cheesecake at Dino's on Sturt in Ballarat after the race.
